Freshman defensive back Shaun Prater was arrested 1:22 AM Saturday for DUI. The Iowa defensive back was thought to be in competition to start at one of the cornerback positions after starter Bradley Fletcher graduated. After getting pulled over, the 19 year old Prater smelled of alcohol, slurred his speech, and had bloodshot eyes. After failing sobriety tests he blew a .134.
According to Prater, he wasn't at fault for his underage drunk driving. Prater told the arresting officer that the bartender put alcohol in his coca-cola, apparently in 12 or so sodas that he had that night.
Prater has since been suspended, for what the coach said; "a couple of games"
